mark braunstein, md
Dr Mark Braunstein practices psychiatry in Colorado, Utah and New Mexico. He has been in practice since 1997 and works with children, adolescents and adults. He has been involved with cannabis and psychedelics since the late 1980's and has continued to deepen his relationships with these medicines during college and medical school, ultimately influencing his decision to become a psychiatrist and pursue the healing of the mind. After completing a residency in general psychiatry and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry he decided to move to Colorado to practice in a state where cannabis was legal for medical purposes.
Dr Braunstein also began consulting in mental health and addictions treatment in the wilderness setting. He witnessed miraculous improvement without a focus on medications and changed the paradigm of incorporating psychiatry into wilderness treatment with a focus on minimizing the medications his patients took. He became disillusioned with the focus placed on medications in the current practice of psychiatry and began shifting away from medications and more towards combining exercise, diet, spirituality, and plant medicine. He has been dialing in the use of medical cannabis for psychiatric conditions designing dosing protocols for different psychiatric conditions, making it easier for patients to shift from psychiatric drug dependence towards wellness. Now he is able to put his years of experience as a psychonaut into practice legally with the use of ketamine assisted psychotherapy which he learned from Dr Phil Wolfson.
Dr Braunstein is medical director for multiple mental health clinics, including a groundbreaking psychedelic psychotherapy practice in Boulder, Colorado. He is currently involved in multiple projects focused on expanding access, awareness, research, and most importantly safety in the psychedelic space; driven by a passion to educate and elevate humanity to a healthier and happier place.
